I know I did say I was going to delete my DA after nationals, but I had quite a few people express their distress at this idea.   So I will be leaving it up as a bit of a legacy of my work and to keep watching all my special people.

Obligatory nationals recount:    
My journey started on ...totally can't remember that far back...Wednesday.   Because the flight was cheaper.   -which was silly, because then I had to drag my set pieces through the streets.    I had them folded over all on top of the birdcage base and covered in plastic,  I also had a "towline"  attached to the wheels to pull it along.   I felt like I was swimming a horse.  Though they tend not to sway all over the place.

Thursday I said screw it and took a maxi taxi to the showgrounds (because I'm so incredibly fat.)    oh and that's the only taxi my set would fit in.  Seeing as most of the footpaths in Brisbane weren't actually wide enough for my flying saucer on wheels.
I then spent the morning putting my sets together.  Then ran away and went ice skating.   Brisbane ice is so hard!  I like Adelaide's soft ice!
Before coming back for rehearsals in the afternoon.  

Friday was marking out sets and interviews.  I then had to go buy my fake nails and....something else I can't remember....My memory is shot for those of you who don't know.   Oh I did also get that hideous $4 dress which I then proceeded to cut to shreds for Sunday.

Saturday was The comp and it all went very smoothly for me.    I thought I wasn't going to be able to get into my cage for a minute because of my petticoat but I wriggled in.   I also made the decision to take down my train behind the wall right before I went on stage.   Needless to say I couldn't get the pearls undone with my nails!   You see I had twisted the elastic around them so they wouldn't come off when I was on the ground, so it made it very difficult.  Nevermind, I just took them down after.  
It was the best comp I've ever been in.  Everyone was like family, everyone helped each other and was so friendly.  We all did a fantastic job and it's a shame there weren't prizes for everyone.   I was so happy for Lisa and Cathy for taking 1st and I was so surprised to get 3rd, I couldn't believe it.

Sunday I whored it up, You see I had made these big beautiful wings a lot like Julia Stegner wore in the 2008 Victoria's Secret fashion show.   (I know her's are much bigger, but you must remember I am only 5.2".)    A very pretty segment I must say, you can watch it here: [link]
Though that segment would of course have been much better if Adriana was in it, but she was busy getting into the fantasy bra.   
ANYWAY, I had these wings and does almost every girl not dream of wearing wings?   So off I tottled in my VS bikini.    Covered up my hips with that shredded dress.  (Learn how to show off your good bits, hide the not so good and rock your figure with pride ladies!)

Tuesday I went skating again.  So exhausted from swimming (it really wears me out) so I didn't have much energy for skating.  After I walked as far as I could before the next bus which was about 4 kms as they only come once an hour. (It was that or stand in the sun and get burnt.)   Picked up my belongings  which now consisted of the two cases and box of wings.  Considerably smaller than what I had arrived with, no less awkward and since I had been dragging my heavy rolling cases around all weekend my wrists were screaming (I have problems with muscle overuse injury)  So that was a hellish walk to the station, dropping bags and the box.   I threw a shit fit a couple of times -no literally I threw the box when I got to the station and started crying from sheer exhaustion.   WHY DO I ALWAYS END UP CRYING ON BRISBANE TRAINS?  it's like a curse or something.
My flight got delayed because the flights out of Sydney were delayed and we were waiting for one of those planes!   So it was pretty much down to  "ladies and gentlemen, this is a curfew flight, if we dont board and take of before 10 past, we will have to cancel the flight."    Fastest boarding EVER!.         Still took longer than the 13minutes we had.   So About Pinaroo way they informed us that our arrival would be 3 minutes past 11pm and that people is past curfew.   To Melbourne we go.  
Now at the time I couldnt care less and went "Wooooh! Adventure!"    -Uh uh   -nope.   Stand in check in in Melbourne while they process you very very slowly, go pick up your stuff and get sent to one of many hotels.  (none of which are anywhere near the airport by the way)    -I of course now realised I would have to make conscious decisions.   -I lost the ability to make such decisions at about 6pm.     I was so buggered.   It was all too hard.    I argued with staff that I couldn't carry all my baggage by myself  (which at this point was true)   -They didn't care and told me I needed to take all my baggage.   I wandered around a lot and prepared to spend the night on the floor with some lady I'd just met because it was simply too much effort to have to go away and come back.   Then another virgin staff member who was may I say extremely assertive, -to the point of being bossy, (she probably just wanted to go home)  Took the young distressed girl of what she presumed was about 16years of age(who was at this point spouting incoherent sentences and staring into the distance)  organized for my box to be left at the airport, lumped me with some ladies going to the same hotel, gave me a cabcharge card for the morning (as I stated I had no money)  (See everyone else had to pay themselves and be reimbursed later, but I really didn't have money on me)
So I did get to my hotel- at 2.30am.
My god was that bed comfy.  Till I had to get up at 5.30am to catch my flight.


I did eventually get home.
